Mark, good point on the quality of the training there. One comment I'd like to make though about your concealed carry opinion. Not sure how it is in the states, though there are certain areas of the world I definatly would want a firearm on my person (half of them indulge in coups as a national past time mind you), however I would have thought America wouldn't be one of them? I live in Australia, where for the most part a firearm is looked on as a farmer's tool. You get your snakes (we have many deadly varities), which normally can be avoided rather than killed, rabbits (a real bastard is the bunny), 'roos (Kangaroo, a pest. They foul up fences when they get caught in them, tear up the ground, damage crops ect.) and foxes. But as a defensive option? Certainly not here. Perhaps the 'armed' culture of America changes things a bit, but I'd feel that if I were confronted with an armed criminal in this country at least, I'd like to be unarmed. Odds are he's going to get close if force is REALLY the only option, however people would be more likely to panic if they found me armed. Again, I'd like to stress that in Australia gun ownership is minimal, so the criminal isn't expecting to find someone armed, is likely to panic, ect. ect.
And everyone knows what happens when someone holding a gun on you panics.

An amusing note: Aparently your presidents dislike visiting Australia 'cause the first thing that happens the moment they clear passport control is their entire secret service detail is arrested. Concealed carry for anyone (police, millitary, civilian) is totally illegal here. Again, situation is different, not meaning to cause offense, but I do find the mental image kinda funny ;P

Mark, again by sharing your viewpoint and opinions on current events, I see that I still agree with you on just about everything. Can't think of anything I don't agree with you on. Especially the viewpoints that Americans have on Muslims though. You are right. It is sad that most Americans don't educate themselves to the fact that most of the Muslim population has NOTHING against Americans. And I can't wait to get my concealed carry permit and carry all the time.

Of course! One of the greatest moments in Iraq was speaking to an Iraqi friend of mine, whom had taken us in for a Christmas dinner. I told him he was a great friend for doing that, and he said, "Not friend. Brother." I find that most people around the world have the same desires t protect their family, create a good life for their children, and live a peaceful life. Anything less than that realization is ignorance.

thanks for writing these kind words about Muslims. It sickens me that some right wingers are calling for RACIST profiling against Muslims, Arabs, Middle Easterns, Afghans, Africans, South Asians, and anyone who's brown (or black). WTF is wrong with these people?

I'm also for gun rights like you and I think we should have the right to protect ourselves if we ever find ourselves in life-threatening situations.
